Mamma Mia! The Musical with PureTAN

Mamma Mia! We’re thrilled to be a part of one of our favourite musical productions ever.

As the official tanning partner for Mamma Mia! the Musical, we’re currently touring Australia with the talented cast and crew to make sure that everyone stays glowing and golden for each performance.

Mamma Mia! is set in the Greek Island- one of our favourite holiday destinations. And one thing we know for sure, is that nothing compares to a rich Mediterranean tan.

So what to do to achieve this colour from the other side of the world you might ask? Simple, Pure Bronze Xtreme!

Our Xtreme tan develops into the deepest, darkest colour in our range within 1-4hrs.

Enough about the tan for now.. let’s talk about the show.

Mamma Mia! is jam packed with the greatest hits by ABBA. It’s a fun and fabulous show, but our favourite part has to be the ending. Not because we want it to finish (actually the complete opposite), but because the music steps up a notch and the cast embrace full-blown ABBA costumes.

We’ve never EVER been to a musical before where the entire audience is up, dancing and singing along having the greatest time ever.

We’re not biased at all. But this has to be the most fun musical we have ever seen and we highly recommend securing yourself tickets.

Mamma Mia! is currently showing in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre until May 6, and will be hitting the following major cities next:

PERTH- May 2018

MELBOURNE- July 2018

ADELAIDE- October 2018

See all of you dancing queens there! Glow xx

WEARING FAKE TAN FOR YOUR WEDDING AND HOW TO PREPARE

Tips on wearing fake tan for your wedding day and how to prepare.

By now you’ve probably planned most details of your wedding, and it’s time to start thinking about the finer details like your faux glow.

Wearing white with a fresh spray tan is always a little daunting, so pureTAN founder and tanning guru Danielle Fletcher has put together a few tips on how to prepare for your big day and guarantee your tan is on point (without leaving brown marks on your dress!).

“As always we recommend the first step to any great tan be exfoliation. Soak in a bath or have a nice warm shower and give your body an all-over scrub using a gentle exfoliating body scrub and a mitt or brush. Removing the top layer of dead skin will ensure a smooth, streak-free tan and will stop it sticking from places on your body that tend to be dryer than others such as your knees and elbows.” says Danielle.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again! Exfoliation is key!!

Besides the concerns of getting the tan on your dress, most women are also unsure of when exactly to get the tan done before the big day. Danielle recommends booking in to have your spray tan 2 days before your wedding day. “This allows the tan to fully develop and settle into the skin, any excess residue to be fully washed off, and any fake tan smell to subside. It also allows the time to have any touch-ups done to fix any imperfections should you need any.” Danielle points out here that chances of needing any touch-ups is slim, especially if you prepare your skin properly beforehand and don’t have any moisturisers or deodorants on when you go to your appointment.

As Danielle mentioned above, by allowing yourself 2 days for your tan to be completely absorbed into your skin and any residue to be washed and worn off, you’re guaranteeing that no tan should rub off on your dress!

If you’re worried about being orange or too dark, make sure the salon you’re going to uses a premium quality tan from a reputable brand (like pureTAN- wink wink*) and ask your spray tanner to only spray you a couple of shades darker than your natural skin tone.

Don’t be frightened by the initial colour immediately after the tan has been applied to your skin! This is just a coat of bronzer and will wash off to reveal your tan below. And also don’t be disappointed if you wash off your tan and you feel lighter than you expected. By allowing yourself those extra 24-48hrs before the wedding, the tan will continue to develop. And if you still feel like you need an extra little boost of tan, try a gradual tanning moisturiser.

It’s also important to note that in the days following your spray tan, keeping your skin moisturised https://masterra.com/ is super important. It not only keeps your skin glowing, but stops it from wearing off too soon.

And Danielle’s last tip for your wedding day? “Your skin will be a different colour to your usual tone, so make sure you match your makeup! Having the right coloured foundation to match the rest of your body will make your tan look more natural.”

If you have any other questions regarding the perfect wedding day tan, feel free to comment below or email us to ask Danielle herself!

It’s the most exciting time of year for us. Summer is just around the corner, and we’ve got a sizzling new campaign to release.

Each year we love to adventure somewhere warm and exotic to shoot our bronzed beach babes, and this year we headed back to…. BALI!

Bali is one of our favourite places to travel for R&R by the pool or beach, and to indulge in endless massages, cheap shopping and great food. So what better place to play backdrop for our latest shoot?

Our location of choice in Bali- Mrs Sippy.

The talented photographer Johanna Blinn of @beautyonfilm shot the stunning Anastasia Bluemoloko in what are some of our favourite campaign shots ever!

Johanna capture the essence of pureTAN perfectly, with an ultra bronzed Anastasia in a relaxed, fresh, island-vibe atmosphere.

Anastasia was bronzed using our brand new Pure Bronze Xtreme 30 Minute Tan, which explains her incredible deep mediterranean glow!

And we also got to partner with two of our favourite Aussie swimwear labels for the shoot, Sunseeker and Whitesands. Both of their swimwear designs are flirty and feminine, and suit all different types of body shapes.

Checkout the rest of the images from our shoot below, and let us know what you think. We hope you love them as much as we do!

HOW TO REMOVE FAKE TAN

It’s the golden question.. how to remove fake tan?

And it’s one thing that new users of fake tan fear.

While you may have applied to perfect even tan, it doesn’t always come off the same way. Tan can tend to stick to particular areas, and wear off on other areas faster. It might not look pretty while it’s wearing off, but it sure is easy to get rid of it you do it the right way!

Exfoliating prior to tan application, and moisturising regularly while you have the tan on, both help immensely with the even-ness of a tan.

But inevitably there will come a time when you need to get rid of the remnants of the tan to prepare your skin for another application.

The easiest way to remove fake tan is by using a great exfoliating body scrub, and an exfoliating mitt, either in the shower or in the bath.

Baths are great as they allow your skin to soak and soften, which in turn makes the removal slightly easier.

But we understand that not everyone has the time to sit and soak, or even has a bath tub at all! So a shower is a great alternative. Once in the shower, ensure your entire body has been covered in water for at least a couple of minutes.

Then apply a generous amount of a gently exfoliating scrub to your hand, or for optimum results to a mitt. Scrub in small circular motions on your body, starting from your feet and work your way up your body.

You may need to scrub a little more rigorously on areas that tan tends to stick to such as your toes, knees and elbows.

We have a fab coconut body scrub which is made using organic coconut oil that nourishes and hydrates, and ground coconut shell to exfoliate away the dead skin and tan.

It may take two showers or baths to completely remove all evidence of your tan, and it is better to do it over two sessions than to damage your skin by scrubbing too hard in one go.

If you have any questions or need tanning advice, send us an email and our tanning guru Danielle, and pureTAN founder, will be on call to help.

SPRAY TAN ADVICE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY DATE

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and it’s time to start thinking about your tan so that you’re beautifully bronzed for date night.

Not only do spray tans make clothing look better, they also make you feel better. The added glow gives you confidence and makes you feel sexy. That’s why, we recommend getting a spray tan for Valentine’s Day.

With only 4 sleeps until your special day, it’s time to plan your spray tan.

Firstly, call your nearest salon ASAP and book yourself in. We recommend having your spray done on Sunday, so that by Tuesday (V Day) it’s all settled. By allowing yourself a day or two before your date, you’re allowing yourself time for the tan to settle into the skin and develop to your desired level of tan, but also allowing any tan “smell” to disappear and time to top up your tan if you feel you need to go darker.

Secondly, start preparing your skin for your spray tan NOW! Jump in the shower or bath, and exfoliate! By gently exfoliating your skin before getting a spray tan, you smooth out the skin and remove any dead skin cells. This will ensure your tan is streak-free and patchless, as fake tan tends to stick to dry skin which gives the blotchy look that we all want to avoid.

After you’ve showered or bathed, moisturise your skin with a nourishing moisturiser such as our coconut body creme. By keeping your skin hydrated, you prevent further dry/dead skin cells from accumulating on the skins surface. It is also important to moisturise regularly after you’ve had your spray tan too.

It’s all very simple following this advice, but the tricky part comes when it’s time to get your spray tan. Here are 5 quick tips that you MUST know when going to get your spray tan:

  1. Wear loose clothing
  2. shower, shave and exfoliate before you go
  3. do NOT apply deodorant, makeup, perfume or moisturiser. Leave your skin dry and clean
  4. remove all of your jewellery
  5. do not wear shoes and socks. Wear thongs if possible

To book in for a pureTAN spray tan for Valentine’s Day, find your nearest salon or mobile spray tanner here: https://puretan.com.au/stockists/

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day.

FIRST DATE SPRAY TAN

Preparing for your first date can be a daunting experience. You want to look perfect and make a lasting impression, and understandably having the perfect tan is very important. A spray tan is the answer to ensuring you’re glowing and feeling confident. Have you heard the funny saying “Thursday- the day I tan and go from a 5 to a strong 8”?

A spray tan can’t be left to the last minute. You need to plan ahead and book in at your nearest salon at least two days before your date. 1. it gives the tan time to settle in and look natural 2. it ensures any fake tan smell will be totally gone 3. it allows time to access whether you need a top-up.

Choosing the right colour tan for your skin tone is one of the most important things when it comes to spray tans. If you’re not sure, trust in your spray tan professional who will be bronzing you. Remember, they do this all day every day and they DO know best. Ou
r best piece of advice would be; don’t go too dark. Stick with a colour that is a couple of shades darker than you’re natural colour. This way, you will look natural and will avoid looking orange.

If you’re feeling like you could go a little darker than you’ve been sprayed, we recommend using our gradual tan each day to build up more of a glow, and on the night of your date add a touch of instant bronzer to key areas that you’ll be showing off such as your legs, arms or décolletage.

date night spray tanning

Our staple spray tan solutions are available in Dark and Light/Medium, however we’ve developed a beautiful Rapid Tan which is now available at salons around Australia.

Rapid Tan was created with the modern women in mind who is busy juggling a work/life balance. It develops in just 1 hour, however the longer you leave it on to develop, the darker your tan will be. You’re in total control of the depth of your tan.

SPRAY TANNING TIPS

You can thank us later!

We’ve put together a list of the best tips you’ll ever receive for the perfect spray tan. These useful tips will not only guarantee you will leave the salon looking like a bronzed goddess, but will ensure you maintain the flawless glow for up to ten days.

spray tanning tips

24-48 hours before spray tan
Get your bikini wax, any other body waxing and shaving out of the way. This will allow the pores to close back up before you get your tan.

Get your mani/pedi before the session otherwise the acetone the nail salons use will remove the tan on your hands leaving them a different colour to your body.

Prepare your skin by exfoliating thoroughly and moisturize!!

The day of
Shower and exfoliate your body again to remove any dead skin as well as any residual moisturizer, deodorant or perfumes. Using an exfoliating mitt and a body scrub, concentrate on your hands, knees and elbows. We recommend our coconut body scrub and pro mitt for exfoliating.

Do not wear any makeup, body lotions, perfumes or deodorants as they react with the tanning properties and could make your skin turn green.

Remove all jewellery

Wear loose dark clothing and a pare of flip slops

Once you’ve been sprayed
Wait a few minutes before getting dressed to allow the tan to absorb into the skin. This will help avoid any bad markings.

Avoid water and sweat for up to 8 hours. This means no shower, no gym, no housework (dream!) and staying out of the rain.

Refrain from using any deodorants or perfumes until your tan has fully developed and you’ve showered. This is the difficult part, as your skin begins to smell, but the wait is worth it!

After it has developed
Have a shower and rinse yourself thoroughly until the water runs clear. Avoid using any harsh soaps as they could strip your tan.

Apply a super nourishing moisturizer such as our coconut body crème which not only smells like coconut heaven, it contains organic coconut oil which is intensely moisturizing and quickly absorbs into the skin. The more you moisturize, the longer the tan will last.

Maintaining the glow
Continue to moisturize your skin after every shower. This is crucial. We recommend maintinaing the tan with our Gradual Tanning Moisturiser which contains organic coconut oil and SPF 15. It’s the perfect replacement for your regular moisturizer and makes your tan last much longer with its subtle daily tanner.

Avoid long hot baths and swimming in chlorinated water.

Pat yourself dry after showers rather than rubbing with a towel.

Shave the least amount of times possible as each shave removes a layer of tan.

After 7 days, gently exfoliate your skin each day so that your tan begins to fade evenly. We’ve all seen those people who look patchy and I’m sure you want to avoid that!
